UIDAI Said the Aadhaar Mandatory for Opening New Bank Accounts, Tatkal Passports

In reply to supreme court order for extending the last date for accepting Aadhaar from 31st March to indefinite period, The UIDAI has stated that the requirement of Aadhaar for opening new bank accounts or applying for Tatkal passports will continue. UIDAI further clarify that the deadline for linking it to existing bank accounts and PAN has been extended by the Supreme Court. Further, it is also informed that the Supreme court has made Aadhaar mandatory in Social Security Schemes like MNAREGA, DBT etc.

UIDAI has communicated officially through their official Twitter handle i.e.

[box type=”info” align=”aligncenter” ]As per the Supreme Court’s order dated 13th March 2018, the requirement of Aadhaar for opening new bank accounts and applying for Tatkal passports under the relevant laws continues,” the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues the 12-digit biometric identifier[/box]

Further,individual with no Aadhaar need to enroll for Aadhaar at any of the enrollment center and provide the Aadhaar application number while applying for availing the aforesaid services.

How To Link Aadhaar Number To Mutual Fund Accounts ?

The extension of deadline by Supreme court would apply on the mandatory linking of Aadhaar with the bank accounts and mobile phone numbers.
