[FIX] Debit Card Declined Online

Know the steps to fix Debit Card declined online due to any reasons. Get the various reasons behind the rejection of your debit card while doing transaction online or at PoS. Steps to Fix Debit Card Declined Online

Insufficient Funds in the Account 

The most common reason for decline is No fund in the account. Many a time customer is unaware about the account balance and that is the reason why debit cards get declined. 

FIX :  Always check balance of the account before going for any Online or PoS transactions.  

ATM Card has expired 

Before doing any transactions, just verify the expiry date of the Debit Card. If you use an expired card at check-out or ATMs, your transaction request won’t be accepted. You are not allowed to do any transactions with expired card. 

New Card Not Activated 

If you have received your debit card recently, this may happen. Whenever any bank is issuing the debit card, it is under deactivated stage. You need to activate as soon as you receive the card through various modes like Mobile Banking, branch Visit, Internet Banking, ATM etc.  

FIX – Verify whether your card is activated and if not, generate a New PIN and activate it first to check the decline at merchant locations. 

Online Suspicious Transactions 

Many banks are having Online Transaction Monitoring System placed for verifying the financial transactions. The system may automatically decline the debit card if they find it suspicious or not in line with regular spending or withdrawal habits of the customer. This is automate system and placed to protect the customer in case card is stolen or used to make an unsolicited transaction. 

FIX – Just call to customer care of the bank and inform them about the transaction. This is very common incase of International Transactions. 

Card Limit Override 

Every Debit Card issued by banks are having certain fixed daily limit for transaction to avoid any fraudulent activities.

Technical Glitches 

A physical real time problems with the terminals like slow internet connection, power failure, faulty PoS or processing delays. Just wait for sometime or alternate solution to explore like QR based payment.
