How To File Income Tax e-Filing Returns Online in Simple Steps ? – Steps for e-filing Income Tax Returns Online, Income Tax has made mandatory for Tax payers with income above Rs 5 Lacs to file returns online. This move by Income tax has made life tough for such income tax payers who has their income more than five lacs but not very conversant with the computer and the Internet.

However, the process for e filing the Income Tax returns online are made very simple as like the simple paper returns. We have provided the step by step guidelines to e-file the Income Tax returns in easy steps. Just follow the steps and file your returns online.

Who Can File Income Tax Returns Online ?

Any salaried individual who are  not liable to pay any additional taxes and are not expecting any refund from the income tax department.

Steps For e-filing Income Tax Returns Online :

Step 1: Log on to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and register yourself if first time users other wise Login with your details.Your PAN Number will act as your user ID.

Step 2: Download the ITR Form Application which will be at the Download Menu. This year onward there is slight change in opting the ITR form since those with tax-exempt income of over Rs 5,000 cannot file their tax return using Form Sahaj (ITR 1).

In simple way salaried individual who are withdrawing the various components like conveyance allowance, house rent allowance (HRA), leave travel allowance, etc and amount exceeds Rs 5,000 in a year (Mostly it will be exceeded), you will have to download the ITR-2.[you may download the ITR 2 Here].

Step 3: Enter all your details in Excel utility form as per the details mentioned there. You may get the details from your Form 16.

Step 4: Now, validate the information by clicking the ‘Validate’ button. Save the XML sheet generated on your computer.

Step 5: Select the AY 2013-14 on the website , Go to applicable ITR Form and Upload the saved XML file. You will be asked whether you wish to digitally sign the file. If you have obtained the DS (digital signature), select ‘Yes’. Otherwise, choose ‘No’ to proceed.

Step 6: If you done as per the correct process a message will display the success of your e-filing process and a mail will be sent to your registered mailbox.

Step 7: Get the print out of your ITR – V form and signed it with blue ink. Send this ITR to below address by ordinary post : send it by ordinary post or Speed post to 

The Income Tax Department-CPC,

Post Bag No-1, Electronic City Post Office,

Bangalore – 560 100, Karnataka within 120 days of filing your returns electronically.

Step 8: You will received an acknowledgement form the I-T Department. If not received send it again.

That’s finish your returns for AY 2013-14. Was that not easy ?

You may also e-verify the Income tax returns online with the help of Internet Banking, Aadhar Number or Demat Accounts, there is no need to send the hard copy.

1. Log on to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

2. Go to e-File Income Tax Return – Prepare and Submit Online

3. Details are filled online, Submit the Form ITR-V and send it to address above to Income Tax Department CPC division.
