What is Family Pensions? – On death of an employee who had opted for pension or an ex-employee who was in receipt of pension, his family becomes eligible for family pension. The rate of family pension for those who ceased to be in service on different dates is different.  

The rate of family pension shall be equal to fifty percent of the pay last drawn or twice the family pension admissible whichever is less, for a period of 7 years from the date of death or for a period up to the date on which the deceased employee would have attained the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, provided the employee had rendered not less than 7 years continuous service.

The family pension is payable up to the date of death or re-marriage in the case of Spouse, till the age of 25 years or upto the date of marriage/remarriage whichever is earlier in the case of son or daughter provided they are dependent.
