Oriental Bank of Commerce Worst HR Recruitment Policy

If you have given any exam for recruitment with Public Sector Bank in specialized or any other category and you got selected as per the results published on the respected bank’s website, Never treat this as the final call for your job. You may get rejected even after successfully passing the written Test, Interview and Verification of Your documents.

This incident happens with many of our friends at the recent recruitment of Specialized officers with Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) a leading public sector bank in India. They have called for many of successful candidates of written test for Interview at various location in India like Lucknow, NOIDA, Delhi, Mumbai etc. They asked candidates to present at the Interview center with their original documents. After proper verification of documents , Candidates were asked to attend the personal Interview.

After the Interview, final results were published at Bank’s website for Joining. Now, Being a candidates what would you expect after seeing your name in the successful candidate list at Final result on Bank’s site ?

Naturally You will start preparing for new Job at new place. There are chances that few candidates might have intimated their existing company about it’s intimation to join a new company.

After Two week of publication of results at the site, OBC sent a letter to all the candidates to present at the Bank’s Head Office with their Original Document once again and they had intimated in their Letter that Letter of Posting would be given to only such candidates who would present on said date.

This time they started verifying the document once again and stated harassing the candidates on small-small problem. They have refused to Join two candidates on This ground their basic qualification are not at all as per their recruitment policy. They asked for POSTGRADUATE IN IT and refused to entertain the successful candidate who were holding the MBA (IT) Degree.

HR manager at OBC was rigid on his argument that the MBA is not a Postgraduate Degree. When candidates asked his statement in written they simply denied and told them that they would sent a letter of disqualification. This is completely a Nonsense act from the responsible Government Sector Bank.

How can they just denied some one from joining on this ground that he or she doesn’t have the basic qualification ? I just would like to ask Oriental bank of Commerce Management team that why wouldn’t they denied or disqualify the candidates at the Interview level itself if he was not qualified for the said post ?

Is this the correct legal way to disqualify the candidates after publishing the final results at their site ?

Who would bear the cost for attending interview or counseling stage  by candidates ?

Is this justified for Bank to play with the career of candidates ?

Bank need to clarify their stand in this regard. There must be a legal intervention in this regard and such disqualified candidates must be given the job back to them by the bank. We on behalf of these guys request you to please provide your valuable suggestion.

  1. May be it was for the better of the candidate, that he could not join there.Better options might come and he may work in a more professionally run company than with a outdated Public sector Bank with a huge generation divide .
