Now, Just passing in the written exam is not the end of the road. The final selection will be based on the Written Marks+Interview and the Interview stage in little difficult. SBI has made the Interview more difficult by implementing the GD i.e. Group Discussion.

The thinking of Public Sector bank has changed now and they don’t want just a studious guy but the Smart Employee who can understand and communicate well. In the GD/Interview they look for this skill only and not the knowledge since they already have checked it in written test.

How To Prepare for Group Discussion ?

Group discussion is the formal conversion between the various members of the group. All the candidates who appeared for the Interview are divided in to different small groups of 6-8 Members depends on the number of candidates appeared and they are given a certain topic to discuss about.

There will be a separate panel of Judges for each group who will silently llok after the performance of each guy in the GD and based on the performance they give the marks to individual based on various patterns which we will discuss later.

Few common topics given in the GD of SBI or any other banks are ?

1. Do you think the Monetary Policy of RBI hurt the Indian banking System in Long Term ?

2. Should bank be rigid on the Subsidy given to priority sectors ?

3. OTS i.e. One Time Settlement system impact in General Customers and banks.

4. FDI in banking system, does it vulnerable ?

5. Do you think that high NPA force bank not to lend much ?

How To Start GD ?

My personal experience says that always try to start the discussion, One who start the discussion get the maximum exposure and get the benefit of starter. Always give chance to other to speak. Banks are dealing in pure customer services so they must be a Good Listeners.

Try to speak slowly and correctly. Always choose your language of preference where you feel yourself comfortable. At the end try to summarize the whole discussion with the views of all the group members. This will show the impression of leadership quality….

All these tips not only work with the SBI but also with the other bank’s Interview including IBPS Bank exam. Try to follow the steps and get success in life.

In the next session we will discuss about the some Interview basic tips, If you have any question just ask it here below :
